Loch Loyne on the background   Since a couple of years ago it became tradition to travel somewhere nice for our birthdays. Thanks to my boss I even get an extra holiday day for this special event. So last year we took a full week off and went to the world famous Isle of Skye. This article is my selection of the best things to see in Skye.         Eilean Donan Castle The weather was gorgeous an we took our time to very slowly drive up from Stirling to Skye via Fort William stopping plenty of times on the way to admire the landscape. We finally got to see the legendary Eilean Donan Castle (featuring in Highlander and the Bond movie The World is Not Enough ) just before arriving on the Isle of Skye.  We had rented a little flat on the Sleat peninsula which is in the South East of the Island. It's a little far from the most famous touristy sites but considering the size of the island we would have had to drive a fair bit wherever we stayed. We were, however, only few hundred meters

Fife coastal path (or at least some sections of it)

Anstruther   After a long break writing my blog, let me now show you one of my favourite area of Scotland: the Kingdom of Fife .  I love it there, firstly, because it usually gets a nicer weather than Stirling, secondly because it is by the sea (or the Forth estuary for a big part of it) and it is full of very charming towns and villages. Therefore it has a very nice holiday feeling and a day trip over there always feels like a breath of fresh air.  In this time of Covid, I feel very lucky to be able to easily get a change of scenery without having to travel very far. Anstruther We decided to walk small bits of the Fife Coastal path which is a long distance trail linking the Forth and the Tay estuaries. This 183km path follows the Kingdom of Fife coastline passing through picturesque old fishing villages, some more industrial towns, as well the birth place of Golf: St Andrews. There are beautiful golden beaches along the trail, and interesting wildlife to be spotted: seabirds, seal

Living the lockdown in Stirling.

View from my street Even though the lockdown here is still not completely over yet,we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and from this Friday we will finally be allowed to move further than our 5 miles perimeter. I believe the weather didn't get the memo, the forecast is looking very wet and grim for the next 10 days... Luckily the sun was with us throughout the toughest time of the lockdown, so we went on lots of walks and cycle rides around to exercise once a day. We also went for Stand Up Paddle session once the rules had been relaxed a bit... (We tried to stay as close as possible, while staying away from people so we did go sightly further that 5 miles... Sorry, not sorry..) Here are a bunch of pictures taken during all those little and local adventures. We do live in a beautiful area!
